Designed with families in mind
Throughout Dabton House you will find little touches to ensure the whole family enjoy their stay. Our bedrooms offer comfort and flexibility and many of our 11 ensuite bedrooms can be adapted from super kings to twin bedrooms. If travelling with younger children, the Queensberry bedroom with adjoining nursery offers a reassuring solution for everyone. High chairs and travel cots are available on request, and child friendly cutlery for smaller hands make meal times easy for everyone.
Step outside and enjoy the outdoors
We have everything you need for a fabulous escape to the country with the whole family. Little explorers will love playing hide and seek in the wide spaces of the private gardens, while older adventurers can test their sporting skills on the grass tennis courts and croquet lawn. For an afternoon of fun and friendly competition for everyone – choose from our selection of garden games, including quoits, snakes and ladders and croquet.
Time together
The living spaces offer many opportunities to entertain, unwind or just enjoy time together. Play billiards or a favourite board game in the Games Room. Watch a film together on the large television warmed by the log burner. Or for quiet afternoons, choose a book from the library and curl up with tales of Treasure Island or Enid Blyton. The Dining Room, seating 22 guests, provides a memorable setting for family meals after days spent exploring Dumfries and Galloway.
Family Friendly Adventures
For the more active, Drumlanrig Castle & Country Estate, located only 10 minutes’ drive from Dabton, is home to miles of way-marked walking, cycling and mountain biking routes, with e-bike hire available on site. Alternatively, book a day’s fishing, try your hand at simulated game shooting, try a family team challenge with Scottish Assault Courses. A trip to the adventure playground is a favourite for younger guests.
Day Trips
Enjoy a day of farmyard fun at Dalscone Farm Park, or head to Hetland Garden Centre for family adventures in the Dino Park and Soft Play! Indulge in the delights of Cream of Galloway for a taste of local flavours or embark on a unique experience with Alpaca Trekking, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
